Security & Privacy

Your trust is our priority. We protect your sensitive information with industry-standard encryption.

Our Commitment to You

At Snail Postal Service, we understand that your letters contain personal thoughts, feelings, and information that deserve the highest level of protection. That's why we've implemented robust security measures to ensure your privacy at every step of the letter-sending process.

We believe that even in a digital world, you deserve the same level of privacy you'd expect when sending a physical letter yourself. Your letter content and recipient information are encrypted, meaning they're converted into a secret code that can only be decoded with a special key that we keep secure.

What We Encrypt

  • Letter Content – Your personal messages are encrypted in our database so that only you can see them.
  • Address Information – We encrypt the street addresses of both senders and recipients to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Personal Details – Any identifying information that could compromise your privacy is stored securely.

How Our Encryption Works

We use AES-256 encryption, the same technology used by banks and government agencies, to protect your sensitive information.

Encryption Explained Simply

Think of encryption like a secure lockbox. When you write a letter or add an address:

  1. Your information is placed in a virtual lockbox
  2. The lockbox is secured with a special key only we have
  3. This locked data is stored in our systems
  4. When you need to see your information, we use the key to unlock it just for you
  5. Even our staff cannot see inside these lockboxes

When Information Is Decrypted

Your data is only decrypted (unlocked) in these specific situations:

  • When you log in and view your own letters
  • At the moment we prepare your letter for printing
  • When verifying an address with postal services

After these processes are complete, the information returns to its encrypted state. This means your sensitive data is only briefly "unlocked" when absolutely necessary.

Beyond Encryption

Automated Processing

Your letters are processed by automated systems, not humans. This means no one reads your personal messages during the printing and mailing process.

Secure Authentication

We use modern authentication methods to ensure only you can access your account and letter history.

Regular Security Audits

We continuously review and update our security practices to protect against emerging threats and vulnerabilities.

Data Minimization

We only collect the information necessary to provide our service, and we don't keep your data longer than needed.

Security FAQ

Can your employees read my letters?

No. Your letter content is encrypted in our database, and our employees do not have access to the encryption keys needed to read your letters. The printing and mailing process is fully automated.

What happens to my letter after it's sent?

After your letter is printed and mailed, the content remains encrypted in your account history. You can choose to delete your letter history at any time from your account settings.

How do you handle payment information?

We never store your complete credit card information. We use trusted third-party payment processors that adhere to PCI DSS standards, ensuring your payment information is handled securely.

What if there's a data breach?

Even in the unlikely event of a data breach, your sensitive information would remain protected because it's encrypted. Without the encryption keys, the data would be unreadable to unauthorized parties. We also have protocols in place to quickly respond to and mitigate any security incidents.
